Day 01 Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Your adventure will begin with an 8:00 am departure from Kampala, heading west through some of Uganda's most picturesque countryside. You will pause at the equator monument in Kayabwe for photographs, then continue through landscapes dotted with long-horned Ankole cattle and terraced hillside farms before stopping for lunch in Mbarara. By evening you will arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and settle into your lodge, ready for the highlight of the journey the following morning.

Day 02 Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast you will make your way to the park headquarters, where Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will conduct a pre-trek briefing covering safety guidelines and what to expect inside the forest. The gorilla trek itself will take you deep into Bwindi's dense, ancient jungle, an experience that is physically rewarding and emotionally unforgettable, as you spend a precious hour observing a habituated mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat. Guests should come prepared with packed lunch, sufficient drinking water, sturdy hiking boots and a light rain jacket, as Bwindi's forest weather can be wonderfully unpredictable. Rangers will provide walking sticks, and you will return to the lodge in the afternoon to rest and reflect on one of nature's most extraordinary encounters.

Day 03 Day 3: Bwindi to Kampala

After a leisurely early breakfast, you will begin the scenic return drive to Kampala, retracing the beautiful landscapes of western Uganda that welcomed you at the start of the safari. A lunch stop will be made along the route, and you will arrive back in Kampala in the late afternoon, bringing your gorilla safari to a warm and memorable close. Your Africompass guide will be happy to assist with onward arrangements or recommendations for extending your time in Uganda.
