Day 01 Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Tarangire National Park

Your Africompass guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you directly into Tarangire National Park, named for the life-giving river that sustains one of Africa's richest wildlife ecosystems. Upon arrival you will embark on your first afternoon game drive among towering baobabs and ancient rock kopjes, with elephant, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, lion and an extraordinary variety of birds all likely to appear before the day is done.

Day 02 Day 2: Tarangire Morning Drive, then Ngorongoro Crater Rim

The morning will begin with an early game drive through Tarangire, weaving between baobabs and acacias to seek out large ground-dwelling birds, raptors soaring over the dry plains, and the rare African wild dog. After returning to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast, you will depart for the highlands and wind your way up to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where your lodge will greet you with sweeping views over the ancient volcanic basin some 600 metres below.

Day 03 Day 3: Full Day in Ngorongoro Crater

A full day will be devoted to descending into the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site sheltering approximately 25,000 animals within its ancient caldera walls. You will traverse open grassland, acacia woodland, hippo pools and the shores of Lake Magadi, where columns of pink flamingos gather alongside abundant waterbirds, and where rare black rhinoceros move freely and allow close, unhurried observation. Day 04 Day 4: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
